4th Short Term Exchange Meeting in England

Between Sunday 24th March 2019 and Saturday 30th March 2019, the representatives of the Latvian, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish and English schools taking part in the project Erasmus+ KA2 Call 2017 took part in the 4th short term teacher exchange in England.

The 4th  Short term teacher exchange in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England had a meeting with the following agenda:

 

Sunday 24th March 2019- Travel Day

 

Monday 25th March 2019-

Walking City tour in Newcastle Upon Tyne incorporating

 

Dinner at the Pitcher and Piano  restaurant

Visit to the Life Centre (Science and Technology)

Dinner at Blackfriars restaurant.

Tuesday 26th March 2019-

 Presentations of work in the hotel.

Lunch in the hotel.

​

Visit to Cragside Hall in Northumberland - home of Lord Armstrong a pioneer of technology in his era.

​

Visit to the Metro Centre - free time for shopping.

 

Wednesday 27th March 2019-

​

Full day at Oxclose Nursery observing Technology in action.

Walking tour of Spennymoor.

Short visit to Whitworth Hall to feed the deer.

Evening of dancing, singing, quizzes and food at the school..

Return to the hotel.

 

Thursday 28th March 2019

​

Visit to Beamish Open Air museum to see how technology has changed over the years.

​

Afternoon tea at Beamish Hall.

Visit to see the Angel of the North- another great feat of technology.

​

Free time to explore the nightlife of Newcastle.

Meeting Minutes– 25th March 2019

People attended the meeting included principals, teachers, volunteers and coordinators.

  • Partners were given a guided tour of the historic city of Newcastle with a technology activity focus. All partners were presented with a set of 23 photographs which they had to exactly replicate whilst learning about the architecture of Newcastle, from its medieval castle to the ultra-modern Sage building with perfect acoustics. 

  • Lunch at the 'Pitcher and Piano'.

  • Technology afternoon at the Life Centre. Here we saw a display of science activities which we could do with our children in school, experienced a 4D simulator, had hand-on practical work with technology activities for children and learned about the moon through a planetarium experience. 

  • Evening meal of traditional British food was provided at Blackfriars restaurant - a medieval building for monks originally.

Meeting Minutes-26th  March 2019

  • Each country had presented their work that they had been doing in their Technology clubs. Great ideas were shared by all partners.

  • Visit to cragside Hall- the home of Lord and Lady Armstrong. Lord Armstrong was a wonderful inventor and the technology in his house was ahead of the time. He invented many time saving gadgets and his home was the fist to be lit by hydroelectricity. 

  • Evening visit to the Metro Centre- Free time for shopping and having an evening meal. 

 

Meeting Minutes 27th March 2019

  • All day was in the school completing technology tasks. The morning was pent in the Primary school where partners where welcomed by the Executive Headteacher and the children who preformed some songs.

  • Partners where split into four groups. One group went to see a technology lesson in the IT room, one observed a lesson using an app to make Supertato talk, another group observed a technology lesson using bee-bots and another group observed a group of children designing their own super heros outdoors. partners swapped activities until they had seen each one. 

  • Lunch was provided by the school.

  • After lunch, the whole group took part in an outdoor learning session. Learning outdoors is fundamental to the education of our very young children. It is where they want to be. Partners worked in their groups to make an outdoor den for protection from the elements, using design skills, problem solving skills and communication skills. They also designed a house for the fairies using natural resources found in the garden.

Coordinators meeting from 3.00pm-6.00pm 

  • Discussion of the website, trip to turkey, final report, questionnaires/impact.

  • The basic for the website was created By UK, However each country is responsibility for inputting their own presentations and information onto the page. Please upload photographs, meeting notes with names of attendances and all of the work we have done. 

  • Check all permissions for photographs before adding online.

  • E twinning- a platform to share learning. Funda to accept all partners and complete. 

​

We then looked through the application and discussed any activities causing us concern. 

  • A1 data collecting and analysing. Add to E Twinning and website what we have learnt from each experience. Claudia is to send an evaluation for children about each club. Use 8 European skills to base questionnaire on 8 key competencies. 

  • A5 - telling teachers about exchange visits, showing pictures/good practice .

  • A6- Ongoing -putting Data onto the website. 

  • DH to put something in the local newspaper after UK visit. 

  • A14- posters and brochures - Svetlana to make and sent to all partners. A brochure to tell other schools about our project. 

  • Questionnaire - Funda to make the final questionnaire to measure impact of the whole project.

  • Evaluation meeting in Turkey - there is no focus presentation to create for this visit. Everyone is to take their project application and all notes, copies of presentations etc. with them to Turkey.

  • A unanimous decision to cease  trying to teach our children chess was made. We have all found it too challenging and inappropriate for our very young children. 

  •  

 

Magazines

  • UK to make a technology magazine. Each country to send 3 pages to Jayne by the 10th May.

  • Svetlana to make a language magazine. All coordinators send their language club video to Svetlana by 10th May.

  • Claudia will make a maths magazine. Send 3 pages of maths activity to Claudia by 10th May. Please use word.

 

Turkey Visit

  • 9th June to 13th June

  • 2 people from each country

  • Kutahya (KZR) airport

  • Antalya airport - 4 hours by bus

  • Anadolujet - local airline - Turkish airlines

  • School is Afyon

  • Funda will send all information to the group. 

  •  

Sule then gave us some information about eh visit, the best places to fly from and some general information on how to get there.

  •  Arrive Saturday

  • Sunday/Monday/Tuesday will be work days.. Look at the final report, final questionnaires, organising a sustainable programme, observation documents on behaviour (impact-data-impact)

Meeting minutes 28th March 2019

  • To remind ourselves of the importance of technology and how far technology has progressed over the last century. We visited Beamish open air museum. This is based on our North East heritage, showing exactly how people lived, how they dressed, their work patterns, shopping habits and every day life. Mining technology was observed also. We visited a 1900 school, learning about teaching styles over 100 years ago. 

  • Afternoon tea at Beamish Hall - an English tradition from the same period. Sandwiches, cake and scones would be eaten around 3pm to keep hunger at bay until late evening meal was eaten. 4

  • Trip to the Angel of the North, Iconic Statue, Photo opperunity. Amzing structure and technoligical achivement.

  • Return to hotel. Free time to explore Newcastle.
